If you view the movie you will see, Taxi's running around the streets of New York, one of those vehicles is this 1937 Olds.
.
which one it is, I do not know.
I purchased this vehicle from a physician about 25 years ago, who purchased it from an individual in Chicago.
The information concerning the car was received in this manner, I never cared to check it out, but knowing the physician I believed what he said.
.
the style# 37-3619.
.
body# 10744.
.
trim#3.
.
and paint#130, these were numbers taken from under the hood.
The keys are original.
After purchasing the vehicle My wife and I were driving it to my birthday party on the expressway, about 40 miles into the trip, my spouse says to me aren't you driving the car to fast.
.
She reminded me the car was older than myself, I said No.
.
I'm stretching out her legs.
.
I know what I'm doing.
A mile later as smoke and oil spit out from under the hood, and I'm pulling gently over to the side of the highway I hear my wife say in her sarcastic voice geezshe must have PULLED a muscle.
We showed up to the party on the back of a Flatbed tow truck.
I had the motor rebuilt by Precision Motors for about $7,800, and the car was always maintained by excellent mechanics at Alden Enterprises.
The vehicle always starts and drives extremely well.
I never had put many miles on it, maybe 250 in 20 yearsit mostly stayed in warm heated storage and came out for summer drives and wedding or graduations.
The inside is clean, not original fabric, but original wood frame.
The car has a working radio, clock, engraved interior light, heater and handle bar attached to the back of the front bench seat for backseat usage, getting in and out.
The vehicle also comes with original owners manual and other material which is stored in a tri- pod wooden display case used at car shows.
It is time for me to sell it, my wife says, she also says the price is firm.
